One minute הלכה halachah, שיעור shiur number 17, the הלכות halachot of washing when you wake up from a daytime nap. Now all פוסקים poskim agree that you would not wash נטילת ידים netilat yadayim with a ברכה berachah when you wake up from a daytime nap. However, one really should be careful to wash three times on each hand without a ברכה berachah, because as the שולחן ערוך Shulchan Aruch, משנה ברורה Mishnah Berurah both bring down, this discussion is centered around the fact about how does one acquire this רוח רעה ruach ra'ah, or this impure evil spirit upon yourself. Is it by sleeping only during the night or is it by sleeping at all, even during the day? And it's not so clear, so therefore to be careful. But the משנה ברורה Mishnah Berurah brings down that everybody agrees that if you sleep less than the time period of שיתין נשמין shitin nishmin, 60 breaths, which is brought down in the גמרא Gemara, then you don't have to be worried about any sort of רוח רעה ruach ra'ah. Now what is this שיתין נשמין shitin nishmin? It's not clear at all. It's brought down in the ביאור הלכה Bi'ur Halachah three מימרות meimrot, main opinions: number one, is יש אומרים yesh omrim that it's three hours, another opinion that it's a half hour, another opinion that it's even three minutes. Now, למעשה lema'aseh, I think most פוסקים poskim or what I've learned is that it's about a half hour. However, one should always be careful. It's really not so hard to wash three times on each hand, to be careful.
